Yummy breakfast!!!

Whole Multi Grain Hot Cereal

3 Cups Multi Grain Mix (wheat, triticale, rye, oats, barley, millet & flax) - If you don’t have this just add more of these listed grains in the portions that appeal to you. J
1 Cup Barley
3 Cups Oats
1 Cup Millet
1 Cup Rye
2 Cup Quinoa
2 Cups Kamut
1 Cup Spelt
2 Cups Sunflower seeds – plain
2 Cups Flax

Mix all these whole grains together and store in fridge in sealed container(s)
All grains are whole not cracked or flaked. You can leave out any grains you don’t have or don’t want to include and you can add extra of those you like better.

Instructions for Use
Use 1 part Whole Multi Grain Cereal Mix to 2 parts water.
(I.e. 1 Cup mixed grains would be soaked in 2 cups water. 1 Cup of Mixed grains should provide enough for 4 regular size servings)

Measure your grain mix into a colander. Wash & rinse all the grain really well with lots of fresh water running over it for at least a minute. Check to ensure grain is clean and remove any odd pieces.

Combine 1 Cup of mixed grains with 2 cups of water and a “pinch” of salt.
Soak 7-12 hours (overnight works really well). Then bring to a boil and then reduce to simmer for 15-25 minutes. (Cook it just like you would regular rice). You can vary it depending on how firm or soft you like it. You also can add more or less water. Some variation in water quantity and cooking time will be needed depending on personal preference and grain quality.

Using a rice cooker works really well. You can soak it in the rice cooker over night then turn it on when you get up and within 20 min you have a hot breakfast ready.

To serve – top with brown sugar, fresh fruit like berries or bananas, raisins, milk or light cream.
